Edo govt asks Tony Kabaka to pay N18m for demolishing his hotel

The Edo state government has asked Mr Tony Kabaka Adun to pay it the sum of N18million as costs of logistics arising from the demolition of his hotel on February this year.Recall the Edo State Government on February 5, 2020, demolished a part of the hotel owned by Mr. Tony Adun, popularly known as Tony Kabaka at its location on on Akin Oladiyun Street, Off Ugbor Village Road, Beside Ugbor Primary School, Ugbor Village area, Benin City.Government bulldozers, tipper lorries, payloaders and Armed police officers moved to T. Latifah Hotel and Suites about noon that day to carry out the assignment.

In a letter dated 6th May, 2020, from the State Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development, signed by one Mrs Pamela Osarenogwo, and sent to Mr Tony Kabaka Adun, the government says the N18milion is the cost of the demolition and evacuation of the debris arising  from the demolition.

The government said it is in line with Section 63 of the Nigerian Urban and Region Planning act 88 of 1992 and asked Mr Adun to pay the amount into the government’s IGR account #000663034 with the Access Bank PLC
